Banking in 2050 – a look into the future

In 2050…

How do I pay?

Active, conscious payment is an absolute exception. After all, we live in the age of singularity in 2050, which means that artificial intelligence (AI) has “overtaken” us for many years, and quantum computers perform the most complicated analyses and calculations in fractions of a second. In self-flying devices we move through everyday life and highly personalized, AI-based assistants automatically handle all payments for us. We have now come to call this “embedded omni-payments”, i.e. automated payments everywhere, integrated into the environment: P2P to other people, to companies, IoT devices and, of course, AIs.

Where do I keep my assets?

Same place where it already is today: in IT systems, on the Internet and on blockchains. In the digitized territories, cash has been abolished as early as 2031, but banknotes and coins can still be admired in museums. These countries have their own digital crypto currencies. The “Swiss Crypto Franc” issued by the Swiss National Bank, for example, is one of the three most popular currencies in the world. But large technology companies and cypherpunk communities now also run their own blockchains and crypto currencies, which are often operated outside earth, for example on MoonNet or the orbitnet operated by independent satellites.

Who takes care of my assets?

Our personal AI assistants will monitor our financial situation around the clock. If there are irregularities or if we spend too much, they warn us or automatically take loans depending on preference and creditworthiness. Of course, government regulators also use artificial intelligence and quantum computers to monitor the highly complex global and extraterrestrial financial systems. Various digital banks and specialists have focused on asset management with all sorts of tokens and crypto currencies using the very latest quantum algorithms and AIs. Some of them call it, nostalgically, “robo advisory”, others just quantum-portf.mgmt.
